Maneet Whiskey Brunch

I ran into Maneet Chauhan last weekend at the Charleston Food & Wine Classic, and we both commented on how strange it is that we both had to travel to South Carolina to catch up with each other. Charming as always, Maneet graciously took time during our conversation to greet adoring fans at the Southern Living Ultimate Lowcountry event and spend time with each and every person who shyly sidled up to share how much they adored her on television. I would say, “She’s even nicer in real life!” And I meant it.

So if you want to see her without traveling the unfortunately now impassable drive to Charleston, make plans for this Sunday, Oct. 6 (when the Titans have a bye week anyway). She's hosting a special brunch event at her Chauhan Ale & Masala House at 123 12th Ave. N. and will join forces with the folks at Stranahan’s Colorado Whiskey for a special multicourse brunch, whiskey tasting and cocktail pairing experience.

I’ve written before about Stranahan's, the Colorado-based distillery that has been revolutionizing the American Single Malt category in Denver and Aspen. Since volunteer firefighter Jess Graber first experimented with distilling the malty beer of his neighbor, George Stranahan, more than two decades ago, the results of their collaboration have driven American Single Malt whiskeys to new heights — literally and figuratively, thanks to the altitude of their distillery.

On Sunday, Maneet and her kitchen will come up with special dishes, complementing the whiskeys with her signature Indian flavors for a memorable midday meal. There will also be tastings from Stranahan’s portfolio so attendees can experience the base spirits in those custom cocktails.

Brunch starts at 11 a.m., and the $150 tickets for the event include food, drink, tax and tip. You can make your reservations at the event website. And you should!
