Hog Heaven — the old-school barbecue restaurant that operates from a lovably ramshackle building located near Centennial Park — will cease operations at the end of November.
Nashville Business Journal first reported the closing, citing a recent post on the restaurant’s Twitter page.
In a video posted on the restaurant's Facebook page, owner Andy Garner says that Hog Heaven will close on Nov. 27 and possibly reopen for a few days after the Thanksgiving holiday. Then it will close for good.
"We're retiring," says Garner, "moving onto other things that we will enjoy as much as we enjoyed this, but we're going to be following other business paths." Garner adds that there is a possibility that another barbecue restaurant might open in its place.
Hog Heaven, which is located at 115 27th Ave. N. near Vanderbilt University, opened in 1986 and is one of Nashville’s older barbecue eateries.
"We're sad and we're happy at the same time," says co-owner Katy Garner in the video. "This is what we've been doing for most of our life, so please come see us during this month."
