Veggie burger and fries
In September, Scene staffer Megan Seling reviewed Lulu, the new concept from former Burger Up, Dino's and Frothy Monkey owner Miranda Pontes. "At Lulu in Germantown, you can have your (gluten-free) cake and eat it too," wrote Seling. "Lulu offers a menu that will please the health nut, the junk-food junkie and every eater in between."
Well, sad news for all the eaters on that spectrum: The staff at Lulu has announced that the cafe will close its doors for good tomorrow. "Our motto 'Yes to All' truly meant providing a space & menu that was welcoming to ALL," wrote the Lulu folks in a Facebook post. "We hope you’ve been well fed & made some fond memories with us! Unfortunately, we have had to make the incredibly difficult decision to close. We hope to take much of what we have learned in operating Lulu to our next concept, so stay tuned."
A call put in to Lulu earlier today has not been returned, but the statement says the cafe will be open until 5 p.m. tomorrow — Thursday, Feb. 8 — before closing up shop for good. If you plan on stopping in to pay your respects, get a last look at the menu here.
