Germantown Cafe Decides to Throw Its Own Restaurant Week

The Nashville Originals, a coalition of some of the city’s premier independent restaurants, usually have two Restaurant Weeks per year, one in January and another in the doldrums of August. These much-anticipated weeks features prix-fixe menus and special dining deals designed to attract customers into member establishments at times when business is usually pretty slow.

This year, though, the organization has chosen to take a pass on the summer edition of Restaurant Week to focus their efforts on January. Not that it doesn’t mean there aren’t deals to be found.

Germantown Cafe manager Greg Hilbourn doesn’t necessarily agree with the decision of the group. He told me that some of the other restaurants weren’t really seeing the bump in sales that they had hoped for during the summer months, but Germantown had always structured their deal a little differently. Rather than offering a special limited menu of just a few featured dishes, Germantown Cafe runs their entire entree menu for $20.18 for a three-course dinner of salad, dinner and dessert.

With such a great deal, Hilbourn reports, “We are usually packed every night!” So the Germantown Cafe folks have decided to go it alone and offer their usual deal anyway for an independent version of independent restaurant week, Aug. 27 through Sept. 2. If you want to take advantage of this deal, you’d better make your reservations early at the restaurant's website or by calling 615-242-3226.
