City House pizza

There’s a big NFL football game coming up in about 10 days. You might even say it will be “super.” (Although I won’t, lest the corporate attorneys take aim at me for trademark violations.) However, if you have plans to gather some friends to watch the Eagles face off against the Chiefs (and the refs), a couple of local restaurants have some elevated snack options for your crew.

Wings and chips and dip are always fine football fare, but City House and International Market have come up with some off-menu items to make your tailgate stand out. First off, Tandy Wilson and the City House kitchen team are bringing back their take-and-bake pizza kits just in time for your playoff party.

There’s a little DIY involved in these pies, but not too much for anyone halfway competent in the kitchen. City House will provide everything you need to prepare a huge sheet-pan Roman-style pizza for your crew, including two pounds of dough and all the toppings needed for your choice of pepperoni, belly ham or vegetarian pies, along with construction instructions from Tandy.

The City House Pizza Kits are $43 per pie and are available for preorder through Friday, Feb. 7, with pickup available on Saturday, Feb. 8, from 1 to 9 p.m. Order yours at the City House store site.

IM Wings

Pizza at a football party is a luxury, but chicken wings are a necessity, and International Market stands ready to make your drumettes and flats shine. Just in time for the Big Game, they’re offering a special pad Thai chicken wing kit with two dozen marinated and gluten-free wings for $48. (While we’re walking the tightrope of trademark issues now anyway, I’ll point out that that price per wing is only about 50 cents more than what you would pay at a massive restaurant chain where the wings are wild!)

And these aren’t just any wings. They’re dressed up with tamarind pad Thai glaze, crushed peanuts, Arnold Myint’s proprietary Thai herb blend and chile flakes and served with a pickled bean sprout slaw and limes. So yeah, you can keep your “Asian Zing” sauce, BW². I’m going with Arnold when it comes to international wings.

This package is available for pickup only on Saturday, Feb. 8, starting at 3 p.m. Make your preorder online at International Market’s website by Wednesday, Feb. 5, to ensure your pre-cooked wings are ready for you to heat up in the oven or air fryer and toss in the seasonings in time for Kendrick Lamar’s halftime show!
