About a year ago when I told you that Blackstone was closing their longtime restaurant location in a prime spot on West End, I reported that owner Kent Taylor hoped the closure would be temporary. I also expressed skepticism that it would reopen, not because I didn’t believe in the Blackstone’s beer or love their pub grub, but rather because I’ve seen these sorts of “remodeling" announcements before, and the businesses often don't reopen their doors.
I’m happy to report that while the building on West End isn't reopening, Blackstone continues to make and serve great beer in their year-old taproom at their 2312 Clifton Ave. production facility, and now they've come up with a novel way to bring back some of your favorite dishes from the bygone restaurant, this time served out of a mobile kitchen that they're calling the B-Stone Bus.
The bus will be operated by Nicole Quinn and Robert Page, former employees of the original Blackstone Restaurant. And food will be served during the same hours of operation as the TapHouse: 4 to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday; noon to 8 p.m. Saturday; and 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday.
Returning nostalgic dishes include Blackstone’s beloved beer-battered fish-and-chips, shepherds pie, cheeseburgers and hot soft pretzels, and a kids’ menu is also available. Expect daily specials and catering and delivery as well. Call 615-499-2023 or email bstonebus@gmail.com for additional information.
The first service was last week, so they should have any kinks worked out. Drop by and say hi to some old friends!
