Nashville-based indie-rock quartet The Brook & The Bluff — Joseph Settine (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Alec Bolton (lead guitar, vocals), Kevin Canada (keyboards) and John Canada (drums, vocals) — celebrate the release of their fifth full-length album Werewolf with a hometown show at Brooklyn Bowl Thursday night. The album, which was produced by Micah Tawlks and released March 6 by Dualtone Records, finds the group turning up their guitars and returning to their rock roots. “We did nothing but live takes,” Kevin Canada says of the sessions for the album. “We’d already spent months playing together at Alec’s house. The arrangements were worked out, the songs were finished. We were ready to go, and you can feel that energy in the tracks.” The group’s Nashville appearance is part of a 28-date headlining tour in support of the album that kicked off Friday at The Ritz in Raleigh, N.C., and includes stops at the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C.; Webster Hall in New York City; Ogden Theatre in Denver; The Fillmore in San Francisco; and The Bellwether in Los Angeles. Singer-songwriter Cassandra Coleman will open the show.
