East Nashville multihyphenate Korby Lenker seems to do a little bit of everything. He’s an accomplished singer-songwriter known for issuing confessional, power-poppy Americana like the tunes you’ll find on 2021’s Man in the Maroon.

Morse Code podcast

He’s an actor and filmmaker whose TV pilot Morse Code provides a fictionalized, heartfelt and playful depiction of what it’s like to struggle in the trenches as a journeyman performer and songwriter in Nashville. And he’s the host of an East Nashville-based podcast, also called Morse Code, in which he shares intimate, humorous long-form chats with musicians like Aaron Lee Tasjan, Bre Kennedy, Lera Lynn, Jerry Pentecost, Erin Rae and Will Hoge, as well as local journalists and media personalities including WNXP’s Celia Gregory, comedian Andi Marie Tillman and occasional Scene contributor Craig Havighurst. Unlike a lot of what some might call “chatcasts,” Morse Code isn’t dull or self-indulgent. It’s a far-ranging show about art and culture with a host who knows when to guide the conversation and when to stay out of the way. On Thursday, Lenker will celebrate the 100th episode of Morse Code with a special live show at The 5 Spot, featuring performances from Lenker and the aforementioned Kennedy and Tillman, as well as Leah Blevins, Tim Easton, Paul McDonald and others, not to mention an interview with author Tyler Merritt. Be there to help Lenker celebrate a big accomplishment.

6 p.m. at The 5 Spot
