Johny Jackson’s Soul Satisfaction

Once upon a time, Johny Jackson’s Soul Satisfaction was regularly lauded in the pages of the Scene. “Jackson is the king of Prince, George Clinton and every other band that ever put out a grinding groove that gets booties bouncing and rumps rubbed,” we wrote in 2002. “Soul Satisfaction has become a Nashville institution,” we opined two years later. Jackson, a New York City transplant, got cabooses moving in Music City from roughly 1994 to 2005 by spinning soul, disco and funk records at venues across town. He moved back to the Big Apple two decades ago, but for one night only, the maestro of movement will return to Nashville — perhaps for the last time ever, he tells the Scene — to get folks grooving at The Basement East. Jackson says tickets are moving fast. “The original regulars are now bringing their grown children to the upcoming event,” he tells us. “People are excited.” If you’re looking to burn off some of those Christmas-feast calories, find romance on the dance floor and/or shake off any of the bad juju you picked up in 2025, this is the place to do it.

8 p.m. at The Basement East
