Saturday night, celebrated singer-songwriter-guitarist Jack Pearson returns to 3rd and Lindsley, the venue he’s called home for more than three decades. “I actually played their opening night 35 years ago,” Pearson tells the Scene. He also played the first of their 35th birthday shows back in January. A member of The Allman Brothers Band in the mid-’90s, Pearson has worked with an array of legendary recording artists, including Gregg Allman, Bobby “Blue” Bland, Jimmy Buffett, Vince Gill, Charlie Daniels, Joe Bonamassa, Keb’ Mo’, Bonnie Bramlett, Delbert McClinton, Mac McAnally, Gov’t Mule and Tedeschi Trucks Band. Blues Revue called Pearson a “world-class guitarist,” while Rolling Stone noted his “light touch and fluid, jazzy style” and “dynamic slide playing.” While he is comfortable playing a number of styles, he’s primarily known as a blues-rock guitarist, and Saturday’s show will be in that vein. The Nashville native says he and his band — keyboardist Charles Treadway and drummer Joshua Hunt — will perform material from across his career, which includes 18 albums under his own name. “Every show is different, and we love to improvise,” he says. “And sometimes I have surprise guests.”
