Metro Nashville Public Schools is hosting its inaugural Book Festival on Saturday at James Lawson High School in Bellevue. Lawson High, named after the late American civil rights icon who called Nashville home, opened in 2023 as Metro’s first new school since 2008, and the campus is beautiful. Head there Saturday for a full festival lineup of local middle-grade and young adult authors, including Jennifer Lynn Alvarez, Sharon Cameron, Caroline Brooks DuBois, Helene Dunbar, Nathan Hale, Greg Howard, J. Kasper Kramer, Andrew Maraniss, Tyler Merritt, Christen Randall, Erica Ivy Rodgers, Adam Rosenbaum, Christina Soontornvat, Jamie Sumner, Mary Reaves Uhles, Julian Vaca and Jeff Zentner. Registration is free and open to the public, and lunch will be available for purchase at a food court on campus from noon until 2 p.m.
