Some Charlotte Hornets fans actually booed when the team selected Antioch’s Brandon Miller with the second pick of the NBA Draft last year, convinced he wasn’t the best player available. But Hornets fans spent much of the season cheering Miller, who wound up finishing third in the league’s Rookie of the Year voting and earning a spot on the all-rookie team. A 6-foot-9, 220-pound forward who played at Cane Ridge High and Alabama, Miller averaged 17.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game for Charlotte. He was named the Eastern Conference’s Rookie of the Month three times.Â
