The book that pulled me into Between the Covers is That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Demon. I arrived at Parnassus Books for the book club discussion and found a craft table, refreshments and two people I knew, plus a room full of folks who, it seemed to me, had crossed over from book club participants to actual friends. The person responsible for creating this book club is bookseller Katie Garaby. Between the Covers is so large now that each month members have to meet on two different nights. Garaby pours her heart into this club, and it shows by the friendships and community that have sprung up from this event.
