Red Arrow owners Katie Shaw and Sarah Beth Paul
On Saturday, Aug. 22, Red Arrow gallery hosted artist Alic Daniel and me for their latest Art on Target gallery discussion. Attendees at that event got an extra surprise at the end of the talk when Red Arrow owners Katie Shaw and Sarah Beth Paul announced that the gallery had found a brand new home. Yesterday, they made it official on the gallery's Facebook page:
The Red Arrow Gallery will be moving to its new home at 919 Gallatin Road in October. Riverside Village has been a wonderful home for the last year, but development and growth in the neighborhood, as well as the gallery outgrowing its space, forced us to begin looking for a new location. We are fortunate to have met an amazing landlord who supports our vision and is allowing us to keep Red Arrow in East Nashville. We thank our neighbors, artists, collectors, family, and friends for all of your support in helping us keep this passion project alive. A special thank you to Fond Object. Looking forward to future Art Stumbles and collaborations on Gallatin.
It's a bummer losing the gallery in Riverside Village, but the new location will provide a comparatively massive space that will allow for much larger, more ambitious exhibitions, installations and events. It will also put Red Arrow closer to the action for the East Side Art Stumble events.
I've been watching this situation evolve for a few months now, and I'm relieved that the gallery will be staying on the same side of the river. The stumble is still a toddler of an event, and it can't really afford to lose a rock star space like Red Arrow. Watch for the October event — with a bigger, better, closer Red Arrow — to be the most happening happening yet.

Update: The address of The Red Arrow's forthcoming location is in fact 919 Gallatin Ave., not 919 Gallatin Road.
