Leave it to public broadcasting to take a rational approach to English Only. While everyone else (us included) flails around like their hair's on fire, WNPT managed to produce seven minutes of pre-debate video that quite gracefully captures all the vagaries, inanities and frustrations surrounding the amendment.

WNPT lays out their approach right at the beginning: We're going to visit four Metro departments to see what ACTUAL EFFECT English Only will have. The first stop (schools) nicely portrays English Only as the blunt-headed spear it is; in-school translations are federally funded, a.k.a. untouchable.

Watch the rest to see reactions from the cop shop, mayor's office and Sue Cain, Metro's legal director who will no doubt be having a busy little February if the amendment passes.

Not to be outdone, our own Jeff Woods offered a rebuttal to WNPT's video that he promised would be much shorter and "not full of that objective crap." Enjoy and don't forget to catch tonight's debate, 7 PM on Channel Eight.
