Pick up line: Hey, baby, let's go back to my spaceship for a drink
It's a sci-fi geek's wet dream: A 2,000-square-foot UFO house replete with three bedrooms, two full bathrooms, a bar and an entertainment area. It's actually kinda sweet. All of the rooms are round and there's a retractable staircase should you ever find yourself besieged behind its sturdy concrete and steel walls (unfortunately, the staircase is broken and remains in the down position, so you'll have to fix that).
Built in 1973 in Signal Mountain, just north of Chattanooga, it cost a whopping $250,000 to construct, the Wall Street Journal reports. The Spaceship House has changed hands a few times over the years, and is currently owned by a guy who runs a local furniture store. Due to his ailing health, he's liquidating his assets here and heading to sunny Florida. Good news is, there'll be no minimum bid. Guess the guy's relying on the inherent goodness of Trekkies.
The auction began yesterday, so if any of you PITW readers buy it, please, let me throw a party with cool sci-fi themes. WSJ has a slide show with pics from the interior. Check it out. It's pretty cool.
