One of the nation’s more prominent sports radio hosts is reporting that Nashville will play host to the 2030 Super Bowl.
Dan Patrick, who hosts Fox Sports’ daily Dan Patrick Show, said Monday he has been told by a source that the nation’s biggest sporting event is headed to Music City in four years. A Titans spokesperson said Monday the team had no updates on the possibility of the 2030 Super Bowl being played in Nashville and had no further comment.
The Titans’ under-construction stadium is scheduled to open in 2027, and the NFL usually waits at least three years before awarding Super Bowls to such venues. The 2027 Super Bowl will be played in Los Angeles, the 2028 Super Bowl in Atlanta and the 2029 Super Bowl in Las Vegas.
“The 2030 Super Bowl — I was informed by a source on Saturday that it is signed and ready to go, in his opinion that Nashville is getting the 2030 Super Bowl,” Patrick said on his program.
“I haven’t seen any reports on this, and if there is a report, I’ll acknowledge that. But this is what I was told on Saturday. Nashville is getting the 2030 Super Bowl. ... They got a new stadium coming in. That always helps.”
East Bank venue set to open in February 2027, with Titans to begin playing there in fall
Super Bowls provide a huge economic boost for their host cities. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce estimated that the local economic impact of the 2024 Super Bowl in Las Vegas was $1 billion — fueled by direct spending by visitors and residents, indirect spending at local businesses, employment and tax revenue.
Peter O'Reilly, NFL executive vice president of club business and international and league events, was quoted by the Titans’ website last month, saying league was impressed by Music City.
“We will move on that process [for the 2030 Super Bowl] pretty quickly over this next stretch, but nothing to report,” O’Reilly said at the time. “Obviously, we're excited about Nashville as a city and the [new] stadium. But nothing to specifically talk about in terms of 2030."
In that same story, filed from NFL meetings in Arizona, Titans president and CEO Burke Nihill was quoted as recently saying he didn’t anticipate Nashville being rewarded a Super Bowl until the early 2030s.
"When you look at past stadium rhythms," Nihill said in February, "in terms of when a stadium opens and when the NFL feels comfortable bringing their biggest event to a new stadium, for us that is probably in the early 2030s."
At those league meetings, Titans controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk reportedly made a large group presentation about the team’s future stadium as well as the city of Nashville.
“They showcased the new Nissan Stadium and that transformation of the East Bank — it had nothing to do with Super Bowl, but it was a great opportunity for them to show the full membership how transformational that project is on the East Bank," O'Reilly told the website. “We are in probably the most prolific new stadium and renovation period in the league in a long time, and the Nashville stadium was the one that was chosen to speak in there, and Amy and Burke spoke.
"They did a tremendous job telling the story that [people in Nashville] know well and have seen."
