Tennessee's House Republican Caucus Chair Jeremy Faison (R-Cosby) will not seek reelection to the state's House of Representatives.
Faison’s announcement came in the form of a social media video filmed in the gallery of the House chambers shortly after the body passed a resolution he sponsored. The resolution is in honor of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk, who was shot and killed in front of more than 3,000 people while speaking at a public event at Utah Valley University in September.
“This November, I'll say goodbye to this legislature for the last time," Faison said.

"I want you to know I have nothing but respect, admiration, love for each one of you, and the greatest amount of respect and love for this institution. We have the greatest state in all of America. And I, just a country boy from Cosby, had the amazing privilege of speaking on your behalf. Thank you.”
It's not clear who will run for Faison's now-open seat. Voted on every two years, all House seats are up for election at the ballot box in November.
Faison currently serves as the chair of the House Joint Judiciary and Government Subcommittee, and has served in the House since 2010. He's a vocal lawmaker who has made headlines a number of times over the past decade-and-a-half, chiming in on what he's called "anti-white racism" and the leadership of President Joe Biden and, on one occasion, flipping out at a high school basketball game.
