Greer Stadium in 2014
Chicago-based AJ Capital Partners has paid $54,815 for the guitar-shaped Nashville Sounds scoreboard that long loomed over left field at the now-closed Greer Stadium in Wedgewood-Houston.Â
The company — which is undertaking the May Hosiery Co-Op project nearby — will integrate the iconic structure into the forthcoming design of its future mixed-use project Outpost Nashville in Chestnut Hill. That development will sit on the former Nashville Warehouse Co. site, just blocks from its original home and across Chestnut Street from the aforementioned May Hosiery Co-Op.
Of note, AJ Capital was the only bidder, with Metro Government the seller.
“Our founder, Ben Weprin, has had his eye on the guitar scoreboard at Greer Stadium for years and his passion really drove our team to attain it,” Jack Richmond, AJ Capital’s Nashville-based director of investments, said in a release. “Preserving history and bringing it forward is in AJ Capital Partners’ DNA. We are thrilled to capture such a legendary piece of Nashville’s past.”
Specific plans for the guitar scoreboard are in progress.
