David Chase Arrested When He Won't Leave Deja Vu

David Chase is back in the news again.

The real estate developer was arrested early Friday morning on a charge of public intoxication outside a strip club downtown. An arrest warrant says that Chase was in the parking lot of Deja Vu on Demonbreun when officers were called to the scene.

"The defendant, who had a heavy odor of alcohol, red watery eyes, was unsteady on his feet," the warrant states. "The defendant was asked three times to leave the property and he refused to do so. As arresting officers approached him, he turned to walk away from the officers. Due to the level of the defendant's intoxication, he could not take reasonable care of himself."

As of 11:30 a.m., Chase was still being held in the Davidson County Jail.

This is the third time in 2016 that Chase has had a run-in with law enforcement.

On March 25, Chase and Scott Sherrill allegedly damaged the door to Lunatic Fringe hair salon on Franklin Road from the inside of The Melrose apartment complex, where Chase resides. Video of the incident allegedly showed the two also damaging the door to Chase's apartment, according to a police report. No charges were filed.

On Aug. 11, Chase filed a theft complaint against Kailee Henson and Brittany Driver, alleging that prescription drugs and jewelry were taken from his apartment at The Melrose. Driver disputes the report and says she was not involved at all. Two days later, Henson filed a report with Berry Hill police claiming that Chase had allegedly pointed a gun at her a week earlier and threatened her dog. No charges have been filed in either case.

In 2014, Chase was involved in a domestic dispute with his girlfriend and arrested. The case drew huge attention because, at the time, Chase and his father were leading the development of the Virgin Hotel on Music Row. Chase was released from custody before a mandatory cooling-off period when his lawyer, Bryan Lewis, called Judge Casey Moreland and asked for an early release.

Domestic violence charges were dropped, but not before District Attorney Glenn Funk got Chase to drop his civil suit against Metro. Chase is now suing his ex-girlfriend and her acquaintances for defamation in a Williamson Co. court and suing Funk in a separate action in federal court in Nashville. The suit against Funk is still ongoing, despite Chase's lawyer missing a filing deadline and nearly getting the suit tossed out on procedural grounds.

UPDATE 12:38 p.m.: Chase's lawyer, Grover Collins, tells WKRN that the public intoxication charge was dismissed after Noon.
