There's Ice Everywhere

By now, you've noticed the ice. The above video, taken Sunday in Franklin, is a pretty good indicator of just how treacherous things were getting even before conditions worsened today.

There is an official winter storm warning in effect for Davidson and Williamson counties until 6 a.m. Tuesday morning. As of this writing, the sleet and freezing rain appear to have subsided, but more is still possible and snow is likely this evening, according to our most-trusted local weather source. Also, local news legend Bob Mueller is out there braving it.

Some other items:

No word yet from Metro Nashville Public Schools, but you can get more information on how they'll make the decision here. Metro Nashville Public Schools has now announced that schools will be closed on Tuesday, Feb. 16.

This is gonna be a no from me.

— Most of you still have power. Nashville Electric Service was reporting just 29 outages as of 2:15 p.m.

— The roads are bad, and even larger roads and highways remain dangerous

Of course, this weather is harshest for the unhoused. Open Table Nashville tells the Scene that outreach workers spent the weekend distributing propane, sleeping bags, thermal socks, gloves, hand-warmers, protein shakes, emergency blankets, camping gear and other supplies to people in the Nashville area. They've also been working to get people to shelters. You can support their work here.

Here is a Facebook group where people can offer or request a ride if they're stuck. If you're stranded, you can also call Metro's nonemergency number: 615-862-8600.
