The Fashion House
Earlier this month, news of a party at an East Nashville residence known as The Fashion House went viral, thanks to images of scores of maskless revelers crowded together in the building, smoking hookah, getting tattoos and — in at least one now-infamous instance — engaging in an aggressively public sex act. Now, the Metro Nashville Police Department has issued warrants for the arrest of the two owners of the property, whom they have charged with violating public health orders enacted to slow the spread of COVID-19.
MNPD announced late last night that Christopher "Shi" Eubank and Jeffrey Mathews are being charged with three separate Class-A misdemeanors: "hosting a gathering in excess of 25 persons (hundreds of people attended the party), not requiring social distancing, and not requiring face coverings." The MNPD statement reports that Eubank and Mathews were both out of state as of last night, and that they've been told to surrender when they return to Nashville.
Previously, the MNPD confirmed to The Tennessean that they did stop by the party but did not cite anyone for violating the city's public health mandates. Last night's statement notes that "patrol officers responded to the party late on the night of August 1st and ultimately directed that it cease."
After immense public outcry on social media following the party, both Eubank and The Fashion House locked their Instagram accounts — which they'd previously used to promote the Aug. 1 party. Even so, in a video posted to social media the day after the party, Eubank can be said saying that he would not "apologize for being legendary."
As of this morning, the Metro Public Health Department has confirmed a total of 23,379 cases of COVID-19 in Davidson County. At least 210 Nashvillians have died from the disease.
