Tennessee's outgoing U.S. Sen. Bob Corker made the rounds on the morning shows today to reiterate his newly public view that the man he helped become president is a lunatic who could cause a global catastrophe.
Corker famously decided to speak honestly about President Donald Trump in an interview with The New York Times earlier this month. The Republican senator told the Times, among other things, that Trump "doesn’t realize that, you know, that we could be heading towards World War III with the kinds of comments that he’s making."
On Tuesday, Corker made appearances on all three network morning shows. During an interview on NBC's Today, he appeared to accept the premise that Trump is "a threat to national security" and criticized the way Trump has undermined diplomatic efforts by his own State Department.
"When you have the kind of issue we’re dealing with in North Korea where we have a very unstable leader there, when you send out tweets into the region to raise tensions … when you kneecap your secretary of state whose diplomacy you have to depend upon... when you kneecap that effort, you really move our country into a binary choice which could lead to a world war,” Corker said, according to a transcript of the interview.
On ABC's Good Morning America, he reiterated those comments and, speaking of North Korea, said he wished Trump would "leave it to the professionals for a while."

Having assisted a drunk in acquiring the keys to the truck that is the United States of America, Corker now turns around to the rest of us in the backseat to warn us that this guy isn't keeping it between the lines. Not good! But, anyhow, we suppose it's better than the silence coming from his Republican colleagues (hi, Sen. Lamar Alexander) so that's something.
The president, naturally, responded immediately on Twitter.
