Bill Haynes says there is no doubt what bit his bait Saturday is a Piranha; Native to Amazon, this one somehow ended up in a Tennessee lake and Haynes says it was likely at the hands of irresponsible pet owner.
Yup. Haynes caught a piranha in Percy Priest Lake. He tells Channel 5 that it tried to bite him and ate 15 blue carp he also caught. And this isn't the first time, either. Channel 5 reports that a woman made a "similar catch" last year.
"You watch the movie Piranha; it's scary," Haynes' friend told them.
Anyway, there's a three-day weekend coming up. Enjoy the lake.
(UPDATE 5:23 p.m.): The News Channel 5 story is from 2012, and has re-surfaced today for reasons that are unclear. Current population of piranhas in Percy Priest Lake? UNKNOWN.
