Some interesting outcomes from the evening's returns, as reported in the CP:
• To no one's surprise, Mayor Karl Dean handily won re-election with more than 80 percent of the vote. But two major votes didn't go the mayor's way: The fairgrounds referendum was approved by a 71-29 percent landslide, while massive support from the mayor and an all-star phalanx of establishment Democrats couldn't elect District 24 challenger Sarah Lodge Tally over incumbent Jason Holleman.
• At-large incumbents have never lost a reelection bid in Davidson County, and the streak held true tonight for Megan Barry, Tim Garrett, Jerry Maynard, Ronnie Steine and Charlie Tygard.
• Things were looking bleak for council incumbents Jim Hodge (in District 30) and Anna Page (in District 16). Hodge trailed challenger Jason Potts 583-516, while only 12 votes separated Page from opponent Tony Tenpenny overnight, 800-788.
• Nashville has elected its first Hispanic council member: Fabian Bedne in southern Davidson County's District 31.
More to come tomorrow morning.
