Eddie George in a more modern tale
The
Nashville Shakespeare Festivalwill stage Julius Caesar, the Bard's tragedy about
the evil that men do, at Belmont's Troutt Theater in January, and artistic director Denice Hicks tells the Scene that Eddie George has been cast in the role of Caesar.
Hicks says the former Titans great is a "fantastic actor and is perfect for the role."
George teamed with jeff obafemi carr in last year's Amun Ra staging of the two-man show Topdog/Underdog, a play known for its demands on even seasoned actors. Here's what actor-director carr said of his student in a Scene cover story on the production: "I put him through tongue twisters, long soliloquies, Shakespeare, everything I could come up with that would easily discourage anyone who wasn't totally serious," carr remembers, laughing. ... "He just took them all in, didn't flinch and kept getting better."
