The Week in Fresh Tracks [Music Band, Alanna Royale, Iron/Fox, King Bitch, The Lees of Memory, Ttotals]

It's been a long time — as in, like, an egregious amount of time — since we last filed a Week in Fresh Tracks for you. Allow me to make up for that. For starters, we've already heard

new goodness from Mikky Ekko

this week, not to mention

some very fine covers from the likes of Electric Wurms, Natalie Prass and more

. But let's dip in a little further, shall we? Follow me below to hear new noise from the likes of Music Band, Alanna Royale, Iron/Fox, King Bitch, The Lees of Memory and Ttotals. I've got more good new stuff on my radar, but this is a mighty fine place to start. See past weeks in fresh tracks

here

, and as always, if you've got something for us, email cream[at]nashvillescene[dot]com.

Music Band, "I Was Like"

We've mentioned banally monikered but totally righteous rock 'n' roll trio Music Band a

time

or

two

. They're good. Well, they'll release a 7-inch — “I Was Like” b/w “Everything Wants a Piece of Me” — Sept. 9 via Infinity Cat, and you can hear "I Was Like" above. Though this tune is the same sort of tightly wound, psychedelic groover we heard from Music Band on their Can I Live cassette — which was released as part of iCat's ongoing cassette series — the production here feels a little cleaner and smoother. Music Band will play a release show Sept. 12 at The Basement.

Alanna Royale, "Cop Show"

Local blue-eyed-soul croonstress Alanna Quinn-Broadus and her band, Alanna Royale, will release their long-player Achilles on Sept. 16, and they're offering a little preview right now — the tune "Cop Show," which you can stream above or download (if you pre-order the record) via

Bandcamp

. Decked out in smooth, lush horns and topped with Quinn-Broadus' powerhouse vocals, "Cop Show" is very much in the vein of neo-soulsters like Lee Fields and the Expressions and most of the Daptone Records family. Give it a listen.

Iron/Fox, Ontogenesis

Local dude Aaron Irons can be spotted as sideman in a whole grip of bands, from Jasmin Kaset's outfit to The Non-Commissioned Officers and beyond. But dude has a vision of his own. Under the moniker Iron/Fox, Irons recently released Ontogenesis — a 10-track album written and recorded by Irons himself and named after the process defined as "the development of an individual organism ... from the earliest stage to maturity" — and you can stream the whole damn thing above or via

Iron/Fox's Soundcloud page

. Contributor Stephen "Goose" Trageser described Ontogenesis' tunes as "Billy Joel meets Eels," and I'm comfortable with that appraisal — smart, dreamy, lush indie pop that's absolutely worth your time. Dig in above, or download Ontogenesis via

Iron/Fox's Bandcamp page

.

King Bitch, "Hair Day"

So, the aforementioned Infinity Cat cassette series has announced its next release: King Bitch's Lost in the Party: The Best of King Bitch. King Bitch is a project featuring Diarrhea Planet drummer Casey Weissbuch, and they just unveiled their debut single, "Hair Day,"

over at Paste

. Stream that sloppy, lo-fi dose of fuzz-poppy punk above, and stay tuned for Lost in the Party, which will drop on

Cassette Store Day

(Sept. 27).

The Lees of Memory, "Not a Second More"

Remember last month when

we shared with

you the video for The Lees of Memory's "We Are Siamese"? The Lees are a local rock outfit featuring John Davis and Brandon Fisher of popular '90s alt-rock troupe Superdrag, plus drummer Nick Slack and producer Nick Raskulinecz. Well, their debut record Sisyphus Says is due Sept. 16 via SideOneDummy Records, and they've got another tune to share with us. Hear "Not a Second More" via the YouTube embed above. Solid, urgent alt-rock that certainly won't disappoint fans of Superdrag.

Ttotals, "Life Thus Far Out" and "Hearts Always Start Up"

Back in April of 2013,

we shared with you

the video for local psychedelic outer-blues duo Ttotals' "Life Thus Far Out." As it turns out, "Life" will be a part of Ttotals' forthcoming record, Let Everything Come Through, set for release Oct. 7 via Twin Lakes Records. You can get a taste of Let Everything above or via

Twin Lakes' Bandcamp page

. Dig in and zone out.
