If you've been kicking yourself for missing country ass-kicker Sturgill Simpson in intimate venues like The Basement (circa 2013) and 3rd & Lindsley, here's the chance you've been waiting for. The progressive-trad hero and his ace band are coming to the Mother Church Oct. 30 and 31.
It's not an unfamiliar room for Simpson — as The Spin notes, "[a]n instant, unquestioned standing ovation was the only appropriate response" to his set opening for Jason Isbell last fall — and with comedian and Nashville ex-pat Billy Wayne Davis warming up the crowd, consider all the stops pulled. Tickets range from $30-$50 and go on sale Friday, July 24 at 10 a.m. right here (30th) and here (31st).
