See Heartworn Highways This Weekend, Stream the Soundtrack Now

If Light in the Attic's deluxe 40th anniversary edition of Heartworn Highways is a little rich for your blood, it's your lucky week.

The 1976 lightining-in-a-bottle documentary, which follows seminal outlaw singer-songwriters like Guy Clark, Townes Van Zandt, a very young Steve Earle and more screens this Sunday at the Country Music Hall of Fame. Admission is included in the price of a museum tour.

"[In] perhaps the most memorable moment of all," says managing editor D. Patrick Rodgers in his Critics' Pick on the screening (in the print edition of the Scene that hits the street Thursday), "Townes Van Zandt [plays] a breathtakingly lonesome rendition of his song 'Waiting ’Round to Die.' If anyone in the room makes it through that TVZ performance without crying, check their pulse."

The soundtrack to the film is now available for purchase and streaming on Bandcamp, and you can give it a spin below.
