Brothers Max and Ben Goldberg are taking over the building at 1711 Division—which formerly housed Patrick's and the short-lived Edisto—to introduce Patterson House bar and restaurant.
Named for Tennessee governor Malcolm R. Patterson, who vetoed statewide prohibition in 1909, Patterson House will offer an elaborate roster of cocktails mixed with house-made syrups and bitters and poured over eight types of twice-filtered ice.
In addition to classic recipes for Manhattans and Old Fashioneds, Patterson House will pour an array of drinks dreamed up by New York-based cocktail aficionados Toby Maloney and Jason Cott of Alchemy Consulting.
In 2003 Benjamin Goldberg opened Bar Twenty3 in the Gulch, and in 2007, he and Max launched Strategic Hospitality, LLC, which operates Paradise Park Trailer Resort on Lower Broad.
While the focal point of Patterson House will be a 68-foot bar top with 30 stools, the restaurant will also offer a menu of approximately 15 items ranging from small bites to unique desserts created by a full-time chef. Both the food and cocktail menus will change seasonally, and all menu items will be $11 or less. Patterson House is slated to open this spring.
