Passion Pit
Nashville-residing Passion Pit fans just can't catch a break. You may recall that the Pit canceled their scheduled appearance at Vanderbilt's 2010 Rights of Spring — though they did indeed
make it up to Vandy students later that year. Earlier today, the Massachusetts-based electro-pop outfit announced via
a post on their websitethat they would be canceling six upcoming shows, tonight's appearance at Marathon Music Works in Nashville among them. Frontman Michael Angelakos noted that he'll be taking the time off to "work on improving [his] mental health." The full message:
Hello all, On behalf of the band and myself, I would like to greatly apologize for the show cancelations. In order for me to ensure that there will be no further disruptions, I am going to take the time to work on improving my mental health. For now, I'd like to thank all of our fans for their understanding. I hope to see all of you very soon in a much different light. The tour page on our website currently reflects all upcoming tour dates.
With love,
Michael
Bummer news, for sure, and we wish Angelakos & Co. the best. But how about some awesome news for fans of openers Future Islands? Future Islands have picked up a last-minute show at Exit/In — it will be free, and local Cream fave Tristen (fresh off of tour — welcome home, T-Bone) will open. Show starts at 9 p.m. The folks from Marathon issued a release with the pertinent Passion Pit refund info and all that. See it after the jump.
