Watch Old Love Fade Out in Kacey Musgraves' 'Space Cowboy' [Fresh Vid]

Kacey Musgraves' latest LP Golden Hour is a rich, subtle and reflective exercise. Today, she's released a music video for lead single "Space Cowboy," directed by Courtney Phillips, that perfectly matches the tone of both track and album. 

In the song, Musgraves examines the end of a romantic relationship, recounting the details while exploring the emotional impact of a relationship that seems impossible to sustain. She compares her ex to a movie cowboy — but unlike one of those widescreen Technicolor heroes, the guy runs away. In the video, the camera follows Musgraves in the run up to the final confrontation in the relationship (which the song pauses to play out) and then moves on to Musgraves and her former beau on their different paths afterward — she enjoying her solitude, he riding away on his horse as the sky darkens in somewhat psychedelic fashion around him.

It's a beautifully conceived and executed piece (also very nicely lit, if you care about that kind of thing), and you can check it out above.
