Watch Cage the Elephant Jam Out 'Whole Wide World' at the Ryman

If you went to Cage the Elephant's Live & Unpeeled tour at the Ryman in April, you may soon witness your own 15 minutes — or one second, at least — of fame. In advance of the July 28 release of their live "stripped down" album Unpeeled, the band has released a video filmed at that April Ryman date — which will also likely be what you hear on the new album, which was recorded during shows in cities like Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., Knoxville and Nashville.

"Whole Wide World," a cover of Wreckless Eric's 1977 hit, is one of the 21 songs on the record. It's also one of three covers, along with "Golden Brown" by The Stranglers and "Instant Crush" by Daft Punk. It's quite a feat to render a Daft Punk song in a "stripped down" setting.

In the video, you can hear whoops from the audience (and maybe yourself) as frontman Matt Shultz bounces along to the first few chords. When the song picks up in the chorus, the video pans across a rapt audience that clearly feeds off of Shultz's contagious energy, jamming along to his every beat. Well, as much as one can jam among the wooden pews of the Mother Church, which may be not quite as much as at Bonnaroo.
