Sam Hunt's 'The Nashional' Festival to Hit Bicentennial Mall in April [Updated]

Aside from the occasional JEFF the Brotherhood video, massive New Year's Eve blowout and extremely underwhelmingly attended tattoo- and hot-rod-themed music fest, Nashville's Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park isn't often a hotbed for live music. But an announcement comes to us today that country star Sam Hunt — yes, he of "Body Like a Back Road" fame — wants to throw a two-day party in the park nonetheless.

Hunt has just announced a two-day festival that he's calling The Nashional, set to take place April 20-21 at Bicentennial Mall. The singer is set to headline both nights of the fest, but the lineup also features a smattering of non-country talent. Other acts on the bill include folk-pop chart-toppers Judah and the Lion (whose "Take It All Back" you've almost certainly heard playing in a mall or restaurant near you), rapper Fetty Wap (who canceled his Jan. 27 appearance at War Memorial due to a scheduling conflict) and country duo Brothers Osborne, as well as Kyle, LANY, LANCO, Chelsea Cutler and more. According to Rolling Stone Country, tickets for the fest will go on sale Friday, Feb. 9. Stay tuned.

Update, March 13: According to The Tennessean and a note posted on the festival's website, The Nashional has been canceled and refunds are available at point of purchase. "Although disappointed to share this news," the note reads, "we hope to find a future date to continue the prospect of a multi genre, inclusive festival for the city of Nashville."
