Singer-songwriter and Friendship Commanders member Buick Audra tells more truths directly from her own back pages on her latest solo album Adult Child, self-released June 13. She paints vivid lyrical pictures with differing sonic palettes, from a cappella (“Losing My Courage”) to acoustic (“Firstborn”) and spoken-word (“A List”). There’s also full-band — and full-bore — heavy rock, as in two songs about the trappings of relationships: “Questions For the Gods of Human Behavior” and “Birthdays & Bullshit.” The album’s crowning moment comes with “It All Belonged to Me,” a more bittersweet and honest take on hometowns than what typically comes out of Nashville’s writers rooms.
Find the record via the Bandcamp embed — it’s available in a variety of bundles that include handwritten lyric sheets and other merch — or on your favorite streaming service. Keep up with Audra on Instagram for updates.
