Musicians Corner spring 2024 announce

Sunny War, Peter One, corook

Since 2010, the folks at the Centennial Park Conservancy have put together a true gem of a concert series called Musicians Corner. Its hallmarks are a wide variety of thoughtfully curated, mostly local talent at family-friendly times — all free to the public. The upcoming spring season, a five-week run covering Fridays and Saturdays (plus one Thursday and one Sunday) from May 17 through June 15, marks the series’ 15th anniversary. True to form, it’s jam-packed with fantastic musicians who you may have seen around town — or may be hearing for the first time — and will definitely want to see again.

Musicians Corner comes roaring out of the gate for spring 2024 on Friday, May 17, with Sunny War, who was born in Nashville and returned here for a time around the making of her phenomenally rocking 2023 record Anarchist Gospel. You’re also in for a treat if you come the next day: Nordista Freeze is a master entertainer, as you’ll know if you’ve been to any of his Space Prom mini-fests. Oh, and a guy you may have heard of, one Vince Gill, will be dropping in for a special guest performance.

A three-day Memorial Day celebration includes pop maestros like corook and Morgxn, a variety of rock ’n’ pop artists like Rayland Baxter and Chrome Pony and stellar songsmiths Courtney Marie Andrews and Caitlin Rose. Ivory Coast-born country-folk ace Peter One and rising country champs The Kentucky Gentlemen play May 31, while top-notch rockers The Sewing Club Band and Sweet Lizzy Project play June 1.

There are a few artists throughout the run whose names are yet to be announced, most of whom will play the weekend of June 6 through 8. But you’ll already want to put it on your calendar for the Nashville Symphony, Jess Nolan, Full Mood, Vera Bloom and Jo Schornikow. The final weekend coincides with Bonnaroo, on June 14 and 15, but Musicians Corner has a ton of great music you don’t have to sleep in a tent for, including Cedric Burnside, She Returns From War, Larysa Jaye and Phosphorescent (who just released an LP called Revelator).

Check out the full rundown below, and visit the Musicians Corner website for more details and updates. While it will be a while till we know more about the lineup for the fall series, a release notes that it is set to kick off on Aug. 30.
