Jessi Zazu with Adia Victoria, Tiffany Minton, Caitlin Rose and Tristen at The Basement East, 1/29/2016
The death of artist and musician Jessi Zazu was among the heavier blows dealt to the Nashville music scene in 2017. Word's come through that friends and bandmates have organized a tribute show that honors her memory both celebrating the music she made and raising money for causes she was passionate about.
Ain't Afraid: Songs of Jessi Zazu is set to feature a house band led by the great Jerry Pentecost and featuring Zazu's Those Darlins bandmates Linwood Regensburg and Kelley Anderson (the latter of whom left the band in 2012). An array of special guest singers is also on deck, including Bully's Alicia Bognanno, Deer Tick's John McCauley, Caitlin Rose, Parker Gispert from The Whigs, Savoy Motel's Jessica McFarland and Mimi Galbierz, Larissa Maestro, Jasmin Kaset, Dante Schwebel, Becca Richardson, the members of Music Band and many more.
The show goes down at Mercy Lounge on Thursday, Jan. 11. Advance tickets are $10 and will go on sale Friday, Dec. 22 at 10 a.m. right here. According to a release posted on the Facebook event profile, proceeds are set to go to a nonprofit called Jessi Zazu Inc., organized to support opportunities for young people in the arts, awareness of women's health needs, access to health services and peaceful efforts in social justice.
