Daisha McBride Has High Hopes in ‘Top of the World’ [Fresh Vid]

Daisha McBride, also known as "The Rap Girl" returns with her new single "Top of The World".

Coming off a landmark year that included releasing her debut LP WILD and officially transitioning to a career as a full-time artist, Daisha McBride is back to let everyone know that she’s staying true to herself in the new year. The 24-year-old rapper, who graduated from Middle Tennessee State University in 2018, chose to move to Nashville so she could stand out as one of the few female rappers, rather than risk getting lost in the crowd in a city like Atlanta.

Her latest single “Top of the World” is streaming everywhere now — check out the music video above, in which McBride takes some chill time on a gloomy day. The track was produced by frequent collaborators BigBruno and SCi-FY, but McBride’s clever writing takes center stage. She confidently raps about feeling strong and ignoring her haters and competitors, and nods to her decision to stay true to her Tennessee roots: “Don’t know it all but I figure it out / A rapper like this only come from the South.”

You can catch McBride performing at Spewfest V, which goes down Saturday, Feb. 8, at The Cobra and The East Room. Advance tickets for the festival are $15 and available here.
