Daddy Issues Release Album Details, Grunge-Pop Jam 'In Your Head' [Fresh Track]

Daddy Issues

"Fuck you forever." That's how the brand-new track from local bubble-grunge trio Daddy Issues starts off. It's also what their custom beer koozie says. But before I digress too much further, a quick introduction: The Infinity Cat Records signees have been at it for some time now, playing out regularly and issuing occasional splits and cassettes.

Today, news comes via Fader that Daddy Issues' debut full-length Deep Dream (remember Deep Dream?) will drop May 19 via iCat, and you can pre-order the LP here. The record was produced by JEFF the Brotherhood frontman and Infinity Cat co-founder Jake Orrall, and according to the band it will feature songs about "friendship, heartbreak, mental health, sexual assault and a number of other issues that come with the package of youth in the modern world."

Daddy Issues also have a little preview taste of Deep Dream to offer in the form of the three-minute-and-change grunge-pop thumper "In Your Head," a tune that calls to mind Veruca Salt, the Deal sisters and primo-era Weezer in its marriage of sugary vocal melodies and thick, buzzing power chords. It's about getting over — and saying fare-the-fuck-well to — an ex, and there's a Pavement reference in there, so, you know ... all bases covered. Stream "In Your Head" via the Soundcloud embed below, and catch Daddy Issues during the farewell installment of local punk fest Freakin' Weekend later this month.
