All-Star Birthday Celebration for Loretta Lynn Headed to Bridgestone Arena

After a difficult couple of years, Loretta Lynn is preparing to celebrate her 87th birthday in a style befitting her status as a country legend.

A few weeks after a pair of Ryman shows in 2017 that coincided with her 85th birthday, the Coal Miner's Daughter suffered a stroke that took her off the road and delayed the release of Wouldn't It Be Great, an LP she'd recorded at the Cash Cabin. While still recuperating, Lynn fractured her hip in early 2018, but by the end of the year, she'd released the album — which is nominated for a Grammy and boasts a heap of tunes that she wrote or co-wrote, including the outstanding title track — and hosted the annual Tennessee Motorcycles and Music Revival on her farm in Hurricane Mills, Tenn.

Lynn isn't slated to perform, but this year, she'll be honored with a massive tribute show at Bridgestone Arena on April 1 (a little ahead of her birthday on April 14). Producer Dave Cobb is serving as musical director for Loretta Lynn: An All-Star Birthday Celebration Concert, which is set to include performances from Kacey Musgraves, Margo Price, Jack White, Brandy Clark, Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood, George Strait, Pistol Annies, Miranda Lambert, Alan Jackson, Little Big Town, Darius Rucker, Martina McBride, Keith Urban and more to be announced. Tickets go on sale right here on Friday, Jan. 18, at 10 a.m., and start at $119.50.

About the album:

Wouldn’t It Be Great, the eagerly-awaited new studio album from Loretta Lynn, is one of the most deeply personal projects of her career. Originally scheduled to be released in August 2017, this album was put on hold as Loretta worked through recovering from a stroke she suffered in May 2017.

An exploration of Loretta's songwriting, Wouldn't It Be Great finds her sharing the universality of human experience – love in all its intoxication and heartbreak, the abiding things of soul and spirit, the transformative power of music and connecting to the world.

Comprised entirely of songs written or co-written by Loretta, the album premieres new compositions alongside select soulful reinterpretations of staples from her catalog and immortal classics. Wouldn’t It Be Great communicates the hard truths and spiritual insights Loretta has gathered throughout her life and reflects the resilience that sustains her still. It demonstrates Loretta’s enduring strength, both within herself and within the stories she shares in these songs.
