Watch Thelma and the Sleaze Tip the Balance of Power in 'Secretary' [Fresh Vid]

Most of the recent news items about pro-grade ’70s-rock-inspired outfit Thelma and the Sleaze have touched on Kandyland, the documentary about the band's 2016 intra-city tour directed by Scene contributor Seth Graves — which won the Grand Jury Prize in the Tennessee First Feature competition at the Nashville Film Festival. The film depicts the wild rumpus that ensued when the band played 31 shows at different spots in Nashville over 29 days. The thing you might have missed in all the hubbub is that the band was promoting a record called Somebody's Doin' Somethin'.

Recorded in 2015, partly in Music City with Jeremy Ferguson and partly in Joshua Tree, Calif., with Dave Catching (and featuring guest appearances from Tristen Gaspadarek, Alabama Shakes' Brittany Howard, Aye Nako's Jade Payne and more) Somebody is the band's debut full-length album. After the Kandyland tour, TATS went directly into a solid month on the road to SXSW, and the pressure of such intensive touring eventually led the group to split up. Later, Gilbert re-formed TATS with new members and began touring, but all the while, Somebody was waiting to see the light of day.

Until now. As of today, you can preorder Somebody's Doin' Somethin' on vinyl via Last Hurrah Records and iTunes (a cassette is also coming from Burger Records), with orders due to arrive in June (exact date TBA). That month, TATS will also be on tour with Birdcloud. 

But you don't have to wait that long to see you some Sleaze. To accompany the release announcement, they've also shared a video for the song "Secretary," which you can check out above. Like all of the band's work, the vid blends highbrow and lowbrow in interesting ways to form a unique take on the balance of power in a work relationship. Check it out above.
