Lockeland Table's Hal Holden-Bache and Cara Graham Celebrate Release of Their New Book

As if they weren't busy enough running their successful restaurant Lockeland Table, Chef Hal Holden-Bache and GM Cara Graham have spent the past year putting together a new book that shares the process and travails of opening a new eatery as well as offering many of the recipes that have made it so popular.  The book, titled Lockeland Table Community Kitchen and Bar, features 85 recipes and more than 200 photographs by award-winning photographer Ron Manville.

Not wanting to go through the process of dealing with a big publisher, Holden-Bache and Graham created their own publisher to release the book, and you can purchase copies of the $40 book at the restaurant or at the Lockeland Press website. This book is so much more than just a cookbook, full of stories about how Hal and Cara made the decision jump from Eastland Cafe to open up their own place, finding and refurbishing their East Nashville space and how they came up with the menu that demonstrates Lockeland Table's commitment to local and seasonal cuisine. Rather than gathering dust on your kitchen bookshelf, this book deserves a spot on your nightstand for a full reading of their story.

Just like with their restaurant, Graham and Holden-Bache had input into every aspect of the writing and design of their book, an attractive tome laid out in a novel landscape format with a striking black, white and gold-leaf cover. And if there was ever any doubt about what sort of business people the two partners are, all you have to do is read their behind-the-scenes account of their restaurant startup and also consider how difficult it is to self-publish a quality book like this one.

If you'd like to pick up a copy or congratulate Graham and Holden-Bache in person, they've scheduled two upcoming opportunities to celebrate their achievements. The first is a VIP experience on Monday, Dec. 7, at the restaurant at 1520 Woodland St. The second is more casual, and will be held on the following Monday, Dec. 14. The drop-in style events will be held from 6 to 9 each night, and you can make reservations at 615-228-4864. More information about each special book event:
