Nashville-residing indie-rock royalty Kurt Wagner and his
Lambchopdeclared themselves "Nashville's most fucked-up country band" about 20 years ago, and that quote has been recycled again and again and again ever since. I bet they get sick of hearing that — and here I am using it once more. Well, fucked-up country band or no, the 'Chop just completed a roughly six-week run across the pond, where they played everywhere from Germany and Austria to Ireland, Spain and Norway. Accompanying Wagner & Co. on tour was Zack Spiger — who also directed
the band's video for "Gone Tomorrow,"shot at Stadium Inn — and he pieced together loads of tour footage to make the above video for "2B2." "2B2" is, of course, taken from
Lambchop's 11th full-length record, Mr. M, which was released in February.
Anyhow, we all know that Lambchop is beloved by those in the know here in Music City, but some of that performance footage serves to remind us just how revered Wagner's fucked-up little outfit is over in the Old World. Plus — and how's this for timing — the episode of Black Cab Sessions featuring Wagner and tourmate Cortney Tidwell aired during the 'Chop's European tour. Fuel to the 'Chop-worshiping European fire, no doubt. LC has two-dozen American dates coming up, and you can see those after the jump.
