Well, if Jack White's new haircut (which some labeled "the Jacklemore") and Jack White looking glum at a baseball game both made headlines (they did,
hereand
here), then certainly a new video featuring both Jack White's new haircut and Jack White looking glum ought to do the same. Above you can see the brand-spanking-new clip for "Would You Fight for My Love?" from this year's Lazaretto. "Fight" was directed by Robert Hales and shot in
The Cruise Room, a beautiful, Art Deco-era bar in Denver's Oxford Hotel. The bar — which I think has at least a touch of The Shining to it — fits quite naturally White's ornate, monochromatic, stripe-featuring aesthetic, wouldn't you say?
Anyhow, the vid is an exercise in style, mostly just featuring shots of White drinking at the bar, kneeling at a jukebox and turning into a ghost (?) while various members of his band — Fats Kaplin, Lily Mae Rische and others — sit near him in booths. It's pretty sharp-looking, but then, when was the last time White made a video that wasn't sharp-looking?
Look back at my June interview with White here.
