Fact: Nashville loves The National. Ticket sales put the proof in that pudding, as the brainy Brooklyn neo-New Wavers’ return to the Ryman (on Sunday night) sold out months in advance. In keeping with Nashville’s Nationalistic love, local
hometown heroineCaitlin Rose cut a countrified cover of the band’s ominous ballad “Pink Rabbits” at Music City’s own EastSide Manor studios. Check it out (above).
Factoid: The cover represents the second titular reference to rabbits in the Rose canon — the singer gave her first cottontail shout out on “For the Rabbits,” one of many standouts off her 2010 debut album (and winner of the Scene’s annual albums poll that year) Own Side Now, thus begging the question: When will she three-peat? Until then, enjoy … and check out Rose’s latest, The Stand-In.
