In a feature on the best breakfast sandwiches in America, Food & Wine magazine takes note of the amazing cheddar-scone-based sandwich at East Nashville bakery
Sweet 16th.
That particular delight has already been lauded in the pages of this publication. In the Nashville Scene's April 21 cover package titled "Eat Days a Week," Steve Haruch awarded the sandwich the starting slot in his ideal day of eating in Nashville. (He also gave a fist-bump to the Drew's Brews coffee that Sweet 16th owners Dan and Ellen Einstein pour every morning.)
Here's what Food & Wine says approvingly of Sweet 16th: "In addition to creative desserts like an Elvis-inspired peanut-butter-and-banana layer cake, the 1950s-style bakery offers a single savory breakfast item: A doubly cheesy sandwich composed of a cheddar scone and a hunk of egg-and-cheese casserole studded with green chiles."
The Sweet 16th sandwich is titled quite simply The Breakfast Sandwich, and it sells for $2.95 according to the menu on the bakery's website.
