Bradford Cox vs. Sony Music in the Case of the Deleted Files [Updated: Woops, That Was a Mistake]

UPDATE: Sony Music rep responds, saying the files were mistakenly deleted. See below.

So this guy wrote some songs, and recorded them at home and in hotels and such. The guy has a blog, naturally, so he uploaded the songs to his blog — Bedroom Databank Vol. 3 and Bedroom Databank Vol. 4, he called the two collections — and was like, "Hey, Internet, here are some songs I wrote and recorded. Download them and listen if you like." Then, according to the guy, Sony Music deleted those files from the guy's blog on the day after Thanksgiving, for reason of "unauthorized reproduction and distribution of copyrighted sound recordings owned or exclusively distributed by Sony Music," which seems like a rather odd reason, given that the guy wrote and recorded the songs himself. The guy responded to the deletions with a blog post in which he says, "Apparently Sony Music Owns my bedroom. Feel free to call or email and let them know what you think," while also promising to post new links to the audio files, which he did.

Bradford Cox, aside from being the singer in Deerhunter, also records under the name Atlas Sound, whose music has seemingly triggered Sony's "delete first, ask questions later" policy — sound familiar? — though it's not clear they're even asking questions, at this point. An email to Sony Music has not yet been returned garnered this response:

The Bradford Cox tracks were mistakenly removed. We advised Mediafire that the titles were mistakenly taken down. We have communicated all of this to Bradford Cox and his manager.
