In this week's
Food Biz columnin the Nashville Post section of The City Paper, I check out the new wine bar at the bright and shiny
Whole Foods that opened last year on McEwen Drive in Franklin, just south of Cool Springs.
Carefully navigating the Tennessee state laws that regulate sales of wine in restaurants, the folks at Whole Foods created a novel concept for our state: a wine bar inside a grocery store. They've been serving cheese plates, charcuterie and other wine-friendly nibbles since the wine bar opened in November, but starting this week they're expanding the menu with daily pasta and pizza specials.
Does this mean you can buy a bottle of wine in the grocery store? No! No! Not in a retail transaction ... read the story for details.
