this week's dining review,Carrington Fox takes a trip to Tee's Fireside Cafe (7114 Highway 70 S), whose very name is so alluring on a cold day. Coincidentally, I made a recent detour to the Bellevue cafe myself. I had heard great things about the freshness and quality of the simple menu. Owner Tee Kravec — a seasoned restaurateur who came here from Atlanta — is very demanding, people said, and everything is made from scratch.
Like Carrington, I was impressed. The Harvest Blend soup was a cheesy wild rice and ground beef soup almost thick enough to be a stew or casserole. The chicken salad was the kind that Nashville's West-Siders love: chicken chopped fine to a spreadable consistency, studded generously with grape halves and dried cranberries. It was piled on thick, soft slices of whole-grain bread.
Everything is under $10, and there's wine, if you're there at dinner (or feel indulgent enough to imbibe during the day), plus hot daily specials and homemade desserts.
Tee's is a nice little find — pretty and comfortable enough to settle in for a leisurely bite after shopping at TJ Maxx or catching a movie. On Sundays, there's a big ol' brunch buffet that brings in the cops in the area — always a good sign. If you've had brunch, or anything else Bites should know about — share the love.
