Among the food businesses popping up between the bricks in the sidewalk in Germantown, Mignon and A.E. François' Cupcake Collection just might be the sweetest. Hardly a person enters the century-old house that Mignon doesn't ask their name, and more than a few leave with a hug. Fifty pounds of sugar go into the 1,000 cupcakes that leave the family bakery every day, but it's the warmth of the Françoises—five of whom are working the store at any given minute—that draws people back to this delicious anachronism of a Mom-and-pop shop.
